GMPs, which stands for Good Manufacturing Practices, are rules and guidelines pharmaceutical producers are obliged to follow, and they have a relevant impact in your life. These practices guarantee the medicines you take are produced according to legislation, and they influence several characteristics of that production.
Paired with Quality Management Systems, they guarantee that production processes and conditions for manufacturing medicines are controlled. This control highlights certain critical aspects, such as:
- Accuracy when dosing active substances, the elements in the medicines that influence your health
- Guaranteeing the absence of cross-contamination, which can happen two different medicines are produced at the same or with the same machinery
- Hygiene of production and packaging processes, so that the medicines arrive at you in pristine conditions
Part of our activity is to train pharmaceutical staff, in particular people who are responsible for overseeing GMPs. That is why today, on World Health Day, we brought you a small account of why Good Manufacturing Practices are important to you. Do you still have doubts? Contact us at rcredol@rcredol.pt!
